The BlackMAX Square Coated Magnet is a strong, durable magnet that measures 9/16 inches on each side. It comes in a pack of 12, making it a convenient and cost-effective choice. When in the cow's stomach, metals on the magnet can be repositioned with minimum pressure on the reticular wall, reducing punctures. Cattle eat quickly, without sorting their feed. They often ingest foreign material, especially when eating hay or processed feed. The magnets are designed to sit in the cow’s rumen. Foreign objects that don't pass through usually fall into the reticulum. Contractions of this stomach during normal digestion may push them through the stomach wall.
Cow magnets are often administered to cattle to prevent hardware disease. Once the magnet is given to the cow, it settles into the animal’s reticulum. The magnet then ‘catches’ foreign metal objects the animal may have ingested during regular feeding or grazing habits. This helps prevent damage to other internal organs. Ringed Cow magnets are strong, segmented, and available with a plastic or metal end. Features steel rings and assembled to offer maximum strength.
